Summer Getaway: TOMORROWLAND

Giant Mushrooms, Pink Castles and fifty feet high Clown Faces. No, this isn’t the set for another Alice in Wonderland remake; it’s the setting for what appears to be one of the most anticipated parties of 2012.

If you fancy a real ‘sensation to the senses’ this summer, then try swapping Devonshire Green with Tomorrowland, Belgium’s eccentric House and Dance festival. The 3 day event, that superstar DJ David Guetta has described as ‘a party that’s gaining legendary status’, takes place from the 27th till the 29th of July in the Flemish town of Boom.

Tomorrowland’s individuality shines through in its vast decoration, where each stage is a visual feast of colours and lighting.

Gaining in popularity, it seems the organisers aren’t resting on their laurels, as 2012’s line-up aims to surpass the high standards set last year by the likes of Faithless and Swedish House Mafia.

Acts already confirmed include Avicii, Skrillex, FatBoy Slim, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox and Martin Solveig, with a whole host of names still to be announced.

The festivals ‘DreamVille’ camping facilities are a far cry from the usual urine stinking muddy pits of Reading and Donnington Park, featuring Relax Rooms, giving those who don’t want to party quite all night a good night sleep in a real bed. And, after a long days raving, there is even a camping courtyard, complete with Jacuzzi and Sauna.

So, where do you start if you want to get involved with Tomorrowland?  Well, Weekend passes, or ‘Full Madness Passes’ as they’re known, amount to 172.50EU, which converts to roughly £144, which for the acts and the production value, is an absolute steal.

If you’re planning on travelling in large groups, then you will need to buy your tickets in groups of four, in accordance with the festival’s rules.

Flights from East Midlands Airport will currently set you back roughly £70 each way, with flights landing at Brussels International, which is a simple train journey away from the festival site.

A whole heap of information can be found on the official Tomorrowland website, and ticket pre sales kick off on the 17th of April.

I’ll see you there!
