Single Review: Alvarez Kings – Cold Conscience

Words: Tom Walton

Alvarez Kings have been a mainstay in Sheffield for what seems like years now but after a couple of tours and a performance here and there and SXSW, the Steel City quartet aren’t just turning heads locally.

Cold Conscience, set for release on June 11, is a highly charged slice of indie dance floor genius that spits in the face of a pop revolution, stripping back hooks and licks to their bare bones.

It’s slick and has a groove that cuts through the generations with a bass that beats around the groovy bush before a crashing anthemic chorus of: “Just be yourself, you go and I go too.”

Preceding a forthcoming EP, it could finally seal the deal for Alvarez Kings.
