News: Hallam FM ends Tramlines involvement

The organisers of Sheffield’s Tramlines festival have announced that local radio station Hallam FM will no longer curate the main stage at Devonshire Green, as it has done in the previous three years.

The annoucement came amid safety fears for the 2012 event, due to the popularity of the performing acts on the main stage saw massive overcrowding at last years festival. In a bid to try and control the numbers on Devonshire Green, Tramlines organisers will look to programme the mainstage line-up themselves.

On their official Facebook page, the organisers made this announcement,

”We’d just like to say how grateful we are that Hallam FM took part in the first 3 years of Tramlines. We are all sorry to see them leave but the safety of festival goers has to take priority. Don’t forget Tramlines still has 4 main stages, over 70 venues and 100s of artists over 3 days!”

Hallam FM’s Marketing Manager, Alex Morley said, ”Safety is obviously of paramount importance to us and the even was becoming too big for the space, so we came to the joint decision with the Tramlines organisers to withdraw our involvement.”

The event takes place from the 20th to thr 22nd of July, and already confirmed are the likes of Roots Manuva, We Are Scientists and Ms Dynamite. For more info head to the Tramlines website.
